Why should we write our poems thus :
Emotions marching single file,
Fenced in by verse and line and foot,
Until our very thoughts stand trial?
Beyond the fence iambic guards
Patrol with anapaestic hounds,
Preventing words from breaking free
And brainwashing with angry sounds.
All feelings tied by syllables -
Pentameters, iambic style,
And shackled verses fill my brain,
My hopes slow marching single file,
My hopes slow marching single file.
